BASKETBALL WITH GUNS IN VR. Play 3-on-3 basketball on a futuristic battlefield! Choose a unique character, and use their special combat abilities to make big plays on the court! Earn points by shooting hoops or by shooting enemies. Can your team score the most points in 10 minutes?
One of the early Vive experiments we did was just throwing around a ball in VR. A hoop was added to confirm how accurate and fun throwing objects could be on the Vive (Answer: very!). Chase threw together a multiplayer prototype in a few days that had him in San Francisco and his friend in Boston playing catch in Virtual Reality, talking to each other over speaker phone for hours. Despite some pretty buggy netcode at the time, the magic of multiplayer VR was evident, and this is where the idea for Warp League Basketball was born.Refinement and Expansion
The whole design and execution plan for Warp League going forward was very obvious: Add a gun players could shoot each other with, clean the whole thing up, and add voice chat. Along the way, multiple playable characters were added, with their own unique attacks and abilities. Playtesting sessions began in August 2017, where the overall concept was refined and honed over a few months into something fun and unique.Closing In On Release
Warp League Basketball was publicly announced in December 2017. The Destructocrats are currently completing the last leg of the game's development, and closing in on a release on Steam in the first half of 2018.
